About

I have been living in north Fingal for 20 years. Are you like me, wondering about the world around you? This idea has been spinning around in my head for the last few years. Now it is coming to fruition.

The M1 podcast is set up to provide stories and features of interest to those up own and in and around the M1 motorway from Dublin through east Meath and on to Louth.

The M1 Podcast carries stories and features of interest to those living and travelling up and down and in and around the M1 motorway in Ireland. It carries stories of local and regional interest with different themes including politics, culture, sport, lifestyle, media, business and more.

In the first episodes, we will be covering the Life & Legacy of Seamus Ennis, Teaching & Writing in Balbriggan, Gormanston College as a boarding school and the Cost of Living Crisis. We will also have a feature on What League of Ireland team should I support, very appropriate for those with a football interest living in the commuter belt.

Over time, it is anticipated that the podcast will evolve and we have some idea about that but for the moment, we want to cover stories of local and regional interest and cover a variety of themes. We hope it enjoyable to listen to whether on the commute in car, bus, train or walking. Perhaps you play your podcasts at home or in the office on the laptop. Wherever you listen to your podcasts, we hope to reach you from wherever you get your podcasts.

It would not have been possible to get this podcast set up without the help of two people in particular. David West on sound and editing have been of invaluable support. Whatever sound interference you might hear in the first episodes, I am learning through experience and with Dave’s support will soon have a quality regional and local podcast on offer.

Brian Greene has directed me towards setting up this domain and creating this website. It has been more work than expected but he has created the platform here from which to feed each episode out so that it reaches people wherever they get their podcasts.

Thanks also to Niall Keady for design of the logo and assistance in planning and also to Brian Connolly of the Institute of Music & Song for providing a motivational pathway to establish this podcast.
